The design process of our studio begins with scholarly research through past cases, followed by creating mock-ups through drawing and practical craftsmanship, while exploring the individuality of materials.
We are known for respecting the cultural and historical background of a place and integrating it into contemporary design, the firm particularly focuses on how to blend new architecture into existing environments. This approach is prominent in renovation and expansion projects of existing buildings.
We are also known for its approach that emphasizes the site and materials, allowing them to design architecture, interiors, furniture, and spaces comprehensively. The skills of the studio include landscape design, interior design, furniture design, branding, and community design, with teams consisting of architects, designers, journalists, art directors, and craftsmen from both domestic and international backgrounds. With skills not limited to design but also in planning various services, we are able to create space designs that are deeply rooted in each location, appealing to the sensibilities of users. As a result, we have successfully led projects contributing to regional revitalization.
田畑洋人建築デザイン事務所のデザインプロセスは過去の事例を通した学術的なリサーチから始まり、ドローイングや実践的なモノづくりを通したモックアップの作成を行い、素材の個性を探りながら進められている。
その場所の文化的および歴史的背景を尊重し、それを現代的なデザインに統合することで知られ、新しい建築を既存の環境に溶け込ませる方法に特に注目している。このアプローチは、既存の建築物の改修や拡張プロジェクトでも顕著です。
現場や素材を重視するアプローチで、建築、インテリア、家具、空間をトータルにデザインできる事務所として知られている。田畑洋人建築デザイン事務所のスキルは、ランドスケープデザイン、インテリアデザイン、家具デザイン、ブランディングやコミュニティデザインも含まれ、国内外の建築士やデザイナー、ジャーナリスト、アートディレクター、そして職人衆とチームが編成される。単に設計をするという行為だけではなく、多様なサービスを計画するスキルを持つからこそ、場所それぞれに根差し愛され、利用者の感性に問いかける空間デザインを生み出すことができる。結果、地方創生を担うプロジェクトを成功に導いてきた。
田畑洋人 | Hiroto Tabata, Director
神奈川県茅ヶ崎市出身。17歳より音響技師アシスタントを始め、カナダ・トロントにて音響技師として従事。その後、自身のコンサートホール設計を思い立ち、建築学を学ぶため渡英。ロンドン芸術大学、Cental Saint Martins校にて空間デザインを学び、建築学をThe Cass School of Art, Architecture and Design、Feilden Fowles Architects、そしてCasswell Bank Architectsより学ぶ。その後、モロークスノキ建築事務所（フランス、パリ）での実務経験を経て、デザイナーとして活動を始める。
He started his career as a sound engineer assistant at the age of 17. After he attended a sound engineering college in Tokyo, he went to Canada to gain his career as a sound engineer. After he started gaining his interest in Architecture, he studied at Central Saint Martins and The Sir John Cass School of Art, Architecture and Design at London Metropolitan University. He went on to gain professional experience at Moreau Kusunoki Architects in Paris. He started freelancing in the mid of 2018.

ロンドン大学シティ校、ジャーナリズム学部卒業。在籍時よりTimesやMonocle Magazineにて実務を経験。ジャーナリストとして世界中に溢れるデザインを独自の視点で分析する。また、カルチャーブログやオンラインマガジンを通して情報を発信しています。大のコーヒー好きが高じ、GOOD COFFEEにも執筆。最近の記事では2020年東京オリンピックON ITS GAME?— Tokyoを執筆。また、イギリスの情報誌であるMONOCLE「世界のベストスモールシティ25 」茅ヶ崎市ランクインの記事を執筆し、街の魅力を紹介した。
